Commissioned by the Polytechnic Museum, P-Cube by Marcos Zotes and his studio UNSTABLE is a temporary pavilion at the center of VDNKh Park in Moscow, Russia. The project is a nine-meter tall, nine-meter wide cubic structure, that uses a scaffolding system covered in translucent fabric to create an experience that changes with the time of day.
On each of its four sides, the pavilion acts as a gate to the park, and a meeting point within it. A viewing platform is located six meters above ground, providing views across the park, and immersing visitors in a “physical-digital environment of light and shadows.” During the day, the pavilion appears ephemeral, while at night, geometric visuals bring the structure to life.
The digital projections of the pavilion feature “a grid-like organism that slowly transforms the integrity of the cube through a series of constant morphological changes.” Russian electronic musician Pixelord provided an accompanying soundtrack, composed specifically for the pavilion.
